Wow!

Just had my CIs switched on three days ago and it was completely different from what I used to hear with hearings aids! For example, I thought 'shhhhhhhhhh' was quiet. But now it's LOUD!!

Also, three days ago, on the activation day when I went to the audiologist I did a beep test or something like that and when my CIs were turned on, I heard strange things like squeaking but it was actually a chat between my mum and the audiologists! Pretty weird, uh-huh?

I haven't had a single pain since the switch on but just had a little headache.

It's like switching to HDTV from old TV.

In school, I went to Maths class and just sat down. Then a lot of students came in and things were starting to be very loud, loud, loud, LOUD, LOUD, LOUD, LOUD, LOUD, including when the teacher was shushing around like I never heard before! But I'm still getting used to it though.

It was very successful! :D

This isn't really a good photo though >.<

It's been a while

Hi, I'm feeling better while recovering, however I can still feel the blood draining from my ears down the back of my throat. I think the facial numbness and taste disturbance had improved a bit but it's not cured yet. But I can take a shower and wash my hair now because it's been 2 weeks since the operation! Today is half term, which means there is plenty of time to finish my homework! And Valentine's day is only 3 days away?

Orange is orange, tuna is tuna and salt is nothing

Regarding what I told you about me having a taste disturbance. Well, it's a bit improved but I still can taste metal-y stuff. While I was eating Walker's Salt & Vinegar crisps it tasted just like a plain potato crisp, then I realised that I couldn't taste salt. As for sugar - I tested tasting sugar but I could only taste it at the back of my tongue. This may be because my facial nerve (related to the numbness in my face) was bruised after the operation but it's not permanent. It may not be scary to you but it still is a bit to me! I think it'll be healed in about a week. My ears are still healing though but I can feel the blood flowing though my throat but it's a normal thing that happen after a CI operation, the blood/fluid in my cochlea has to be drained out so it can heal. But still - eek! Fortunately, these symptoms only last for the short-term and are normal symptoms which happen after this surgery.

Also, I would like to say thank you to everyone who wished me well and gave cards/gifts to me including my step-dad and a spy guy in The Sims 3 forum, The Mare's Nest ( http://themaresnest.wordpress.com/ ), you can see a picture of their gift message below. Thank you!! :D

Recovering from the surgery

Sorry I can't do BSL version because I'm feeling unwell at the moment.

I can't believe that the operation is finally over - it was two days ago! Right now, I'm still recovering, by the way, I have taste disturbance (I feel like I'm still tasting metallic stuff) and the left half of my face is numb and I still can't control it. And I'm still in pain, I hope it will go away! Do I hear better yet? Nope, not yet because I haven't had the audio processors in order to help me hear but I will get them in the next four weeks. But I can't wait! :)

Only 5 days left to an operation!

Hello, it's been a while! I've only just finished all of the exams I had this month, which means no revision! Yay!! Also, I have an operation (for cochlear implants) set for 28 January, only 5 days left!! I'm a bit nervous but I'm more excited than nervous! I wonder what it will sound like when I wear CIs. :D Although, I have nothing to post here yet but I hope there will be more news later on. :)
